Zebra

Horses were domesticated thousands of years ago.
Zebras never were.

Not because they are weaker or less intelligent. Quite the opposite. They are too independent, too unpredictable to live by someone else’s rules.

To me, the ZEBRA has become a symbol of the 21st-century woman.

She chooses her own path.
Builds her own career.
Moves across countries.
Leaves relationships that no longer feel safe.
Says “no” where previous generations were expected to stay silent.

But freedom comes at a price.

What cannot be ridden cannot be fully protected.
Freedom is rarely comfortable.
It asks for the courage to live without guarantees.

This painting is not about rebellion.

It is about choice.

About a woman who is no longer willing to abandon herself, even in exchange for the illusion of safety.

Perhaps that is why the 21st century belongs a little more to zebras than to horses.
